Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford appeared at Dodger Stadium on Sunday. The Super Bowl champion gunslinger threw out the first pitch at the Dodgers’ Sunday afternoon contest against the Atlanta Braves.
Naturally, Stafford appeared with his childhood friend Clayton Kershaw. Kershaw and Stafford, in case you haven’t heard, used to be teammates in high school in football. And just in case you forgot, LA left a gentle reminder.
“Did you know that Clayton Kershaw and Matthew Stafford were teammates and grew up together?” they asked.
The LA Rams joined in on the festivities themselves. The Rams’ social team posted a video of Stafford warming up his arm.
When it came time for the first pitch, like the Dodgers said, it was “just like old times.” Stafford took the mound while Kershaw squatted behind the plate. The Super Bowl champ then darted a perfect strike into Kershaw’s glove.
It’s been a big day for Kershaw, as the team announced that he stopped by Emerson Elementary School for the Dodgers Foundation’s LA Reads program.
Kershaw and Stafford are two of LA’s best and brightest sports stars. It’s cool to see such a longstanding connection and for them to both play int he same city now. As a result, moments like this can occur, and it was pretty delightful to see.
