Game 2 of the NLDS series between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Atlanta Braves featured a lengthy rain delay, which Braves star first baseman Matt Olson took advantage of in a hilarious way.
During Wednesday’s near three-hour rain delay, Olson used the time to negotiate a fantasy football trade with one of his teammates that he is in a league with.
Olson discussed the hilarious situation during an interview after the game while addressing the media.
“There was a lot of negotiations going on,” said Olson via Bally Sports Braves on Twitter. “Myself being the GM, I decided I needed to make a move. I don’t know if I want to name the players, I don’t want to get roasted if the trade turns out bad. But I felt like it was the right move at the right time.”
Many wonder exactly what MLB players do during these lengthy delays. This just proves that players like Olson are just like any other person who occasionally gets sucked into making fantasy football moves while encountering some downtime while on the job.

On the field, Olson played a big role in the Braves’ win, driving in a run to aid in a 3-0 victory over the Phillies to tie up the series at one game apiece.
They will take on Philadelphia once again on Friday for Game 3, which could be pivotal in deciding the rest of the series.
With all the seriousness that comes along with the playoffs, it is good to see Matt Olson was able use fantasy football as a way to briefly detach from the game of baseball while waiting for the rain to clear.
