On Monday, Boston Red Sox slugger Justin Turner suffered a terrifying injury during a spring training game when he was drilled right in the face by a pitch. But fortunately, it appears Turner will be fine with no major injuries.
Justin Turner shared an update on his situation on Tuesday afternoon, revealing that he had been released from the hospital and that he had suffered no fractures or breaks as a result of the incident.
“Thanks to everyone for all the messages and prayers! I’m feeling very fortunate to come out of yesterday with no breaks and all my chiclets in tact,” Turner wrote in a tweet on Tuesday afternoon. “The Red Sox medical staff and Lee Health have been absolutely amazing and I’m going to be back out on the field as soon as possible!”
Turner was removed from the game after the incident and taken to a nearby hospital. It’s easy to see that the situation could have been a lot worse given how he was struck.
He is obviously still facing some sort of recovery period – after all, getting hit in the face with a baseball isn’t easy to just bounce back from – but it’s good to see he avoided any major injuries.
