The Houston Astros were welcomed by United States President Joe Biden for their White House visit honoring their 2022 World Series victory. And Biden had a hilarious message for Astros manager Dusty Baker while giving a speech in celebration of their victory.
Dusty Baker became the oldest manager to ever win a World Series championship at 73 years of age. Biden can relate to Baker’s situation quite well, as he turned 80 years old last November, becoming the only president to serve into his 80s.
Biden brought this up during his speech for the Astros, praising Baker for his championship win even though “people counted him out”.
“I’ll tell ya, remarkable achievements led by the legendary Dusty Baker,” Biden said as he started his speech. “The worst part about it is I remember rooting for him as a kid, and I was older than he was. Dusty it wasn’t easy, people counted you out, saying you’re past your prime. ****, I know something about that.”
Many took notice of Biden’s comments and found it quite funny that he was able to find a way to relate to Baker.
That was the perfect one-liner.

So nice to have a POTUS who can make jokes, including ones about himself.

Biden is certainly right about one thing, Dusty Baker certainly seems to be far from done even at 73 years of age. He has the Astros in contention yet again this season, sitting 15 games above .500 and in second place in the highly competitive American League West.
