The Texas Rangers are going to the 2023 MLB World Series after taking down the in-state rival Houston Astros in a wild seven-game ALCS. And on Thursday, an owner of another professional sports team in Texas was asked for thoughts on the Rangers’ run to the World Series.
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told the media, “Knowing how competitive that is, it’s inspirational. The way I’d express how impressed I am- it’s inspirational. I know where they’ve come from, and I know how hard they’ve been trying at it. Congratulations to everybody involved.”
Jones added, “I’m elated, but I envious.”
It’s the third time in franchise history that the Rangers have reached the World Series, but they’ve yet to win the title. The Rangers (winners of 90 games in the regular season) will take on the NL’s Arizona Diamondbacks (winners of 84 games in the regular season).
The Cowboys, meanwhile, haven’t reached the Super Bowl since the 1995 NFL season. That’s despite 12 playoff appearances and eight division titles since then. Dallas has had legitimate championship hopes in many of those seasons but keeps coming up short.

Until the Cowboys are able to get to the title game, Jones will remain envious of organizations that do.
