The New York Knicks collapsed in Game 2 of their first-round playoff series against the Atlanta Hawks, but New York City sports fans have bigger problems on thier hands. The New York Mets are in the middle of an awful stretch of 11 straight losses, placing them in last place in the NL Central.

In a last-ditch effort to save the season for the Mets, Hailey Welch, who previously went mega-viral for her “hawk tuah on that thing” moment. Although she’s since stepped out of the limelight, Welch brought back her signature soundbite in an appearance on WFAN Sports Radio in a last-ditch effort to turn things around.

“And if it doesn’t work, blame (Philles mascot Grimace),” Welch said after gong “hawk tuah” just like old times.

Welch joins New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani in high-profile figures addressing the Mets’ horrid stretch.

“I’ll first say that there’s a lot of baseball left to be played,” Mamdani said after being asked, and I am still keeping the faith, as I know that many Mets fans are across the city,” the Mayor said.

“I will keep my fingers crossed, as every Mets fan does,” he added.

It’ll be interesting to see if the Mets can turn things around in time to salvage a trip to the postseason.
