Does Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker have an issue with Chas McCormick? No. And we know this is the case because of banana pudding. Really.
Baker addressed the notion that he was leaving McCormick on the bench because he didn’t like him. He pointed out that McCormick has played in 42 of 50 games, taking roughly one day off a week. Then, the discussion took a different turn, as Baker addressed rumors that he was unhappy with McCormick’s weight.
It’s safe to say it’s not an issue with Baker, who is a consistent banana pudding source for McCormick.
“As far as his weight is concerned, if I had something against his weight — and you can ask him — I wouldn’t bring him banana pudding once a week,” Baker said, per Chandler Rome of The Athletic. “I stop by This is It and get him banana pudding … If I was concerned about a guy’s weight, I would not bring a guy banana pudding or maybe I helped continue to that.”
There’s a lot to take in from Baker’s quote. But the part that got the most attention was, of course, banana pudding.

One has to wonder if the Astros will use this clip in potential negotiations with free agents in the offseason. A manager willing to bring a player banana pudding once a week is nothing to take for granted.
