If Sunday taught us anything about the New York Yankees, it’s this. While their facial hair policy may be stuck in the 1950s, they have a solid finger on the pulse of modern, popular music. Well, at least their players do.
Drake’s “It’s All A Blur” Tour rolled through Madison Square Garden on Sunday night. Part of Sunday night’s concert featured Drake with a pair of Yankees.
Drake took the stage walking through the crowd. Walking through the crowd with him were sluggers Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge.
Drake and the Yankees both generate strong emotions from fans. So, as would be expected, the combination really got people going.
While the last several weeks have generally been rough, the last three games were good for New York. With the injured Judge still sidelined, completed a three-game sweep of the Kansas City Royals on Sunday. In that game, Anthony Rizzo, mired in a lengthy slump, went 4-for-4 with a home run. He credited the turnaround to switching his walk-up theme to Taylor Swift’s “Ready For It.”
Are the Yankees using music to try to turn what’s been a disappointing season around?
Baseball players are a superstitious group. So, we’ve certainly heard crazier ideas.
