MLB manager blasted over ‘sore loser’ comments

The Chicago Cubs fell to the Pittsburgh Pirates again on Thursday night. The second consecutive loss to the Buccos sent the Cubs down to a record of 79-74. Following the tough defeat, they’re tied with the Miami Marlins for the third National League Wild Card spot. Manager David Ross wasn’t thrilled after the game but once again found out it’s a tough crowd in the Windy City.

Ross made unflattering comments about the adversary following the Cubs’ 8-6 loss to the Pirates. Jesse Rogers of ESPN posted that Ross said, “That’s not a good team that just took 2 out of 3 from us. Or not our caliber of team, I believe.” Ross added that the team has to “turn it around. It’s on me. It’s on the guys in the room.”

Ross might be correct in saying that the Pirates aren’t a “good” team. They are 72-81 this season and well out of contention for the MLB Postseason. But, with that being said, they’re certainly interesting comments to make in the situation. It’s frustrating, for sure, to drop two of three to a team lower than you now.

However, many took the comments as Ross being a sore loser.

It’s a tough look for both Ross and the Cubs as they continue to slide. With their tie with the Marlins, the team could be on the brink of missing the playoffs after going on a tear to get to this point. It would be a disappointing end to what looked like a promising second half.
