The Cleveland Guardians defeated their American League Central Division rivals, the Chicago White Sox, by a score of 4-2 on Thursday night. The team, however, made the controversial decision to squander the goodwill generated by the wind by posting what many saw as a deeply offensive team costume in Chicago.
After the game, Guardians catchers Austin Hedges and Luke Maile, dressed as cops, posed with the rookies, appearing in prisoner’s garb and shackled at the wrists and ankles.
“Following tonight’s contest, Officers Hedges and Maile apprehended (12) of the most wanted rookies in baseball. More information to come, but ladies and gentleman [sic], we got ’em,” the franchise tweeted.
Many people in MLB world were disgusted with the stunt.

“Weird choice guys!” said Satchel Price.
“…This is their roadtrip theme? Ooookay,” said Cat Garcia.
We’ll see if the Guardians keep the theme going on the road trip Saturday night when they travel to Arlington to face the Texas Rangers.
