Buck Showalter earned his first ejection as a manager of the New York Mets Tuesday night, and MLB fans seemed to agree about one thing: He did not deserve it.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Cincinnati Reds shortstop Kevin Newman hit a soft grounder up the middle. Reds baserunner Wil Myers, heading for second base, appeared to interfere with Francisco Lindor’s attempt to field the ball. The ball caromed off Lindor’s glove and everyone was safe.

Showalter argued that Myers had interfered with Lindor, whether intentionally or not. Showalter did not win the argument; third base umpire Mark Wegner quickly ejected him.

So in his 198th game as Mets manager, Showalter finally earns his first ejection with the team. It’s his 34th career ejection in 22 seasons.

Judging from the comments on Twitter, many fans — even fans of other teams — think Showalter got a raw deal.
