The Boston Red Sox blew out the New York Yankees 16-1 in Game 3 of the ALDS, giving Boston a 2-1 lead in the series. As the score would indicate, the Red Sox lineup got it done up and down the order, but it was the No. 7 hitter that was the star.
Brock Holt went 4-for-6 with a single, double, triple, home run, and five runs batted in. Yes, he hit for the cycle, and he’s the first MLB player to ever do so in the postseason. So that’s quite an accomplishment.
Holt completed the cycle in the ninth inning, though it came against position player Austin Romine.
But the cycle is the cycle, and especially in the postseason, as literally nobody else has done it before.
Holt and the Red Sox will look to close out the series on Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium.
