While the Atlanta Braves lost Monday’s game to the New York Mets, the bigger, more concerning news coming out of the game was the health of Ronald Acuña Jr.
On Monday night, the Braves got good news on that front. Acuña will not miss significant time.
The Braves announced that Acuña, who was removed from Monday’s game with a left shoulder contusion, “is day-to-day after further imaging revealed no fracture.”
Understandably, a lot of fans were concerned when Acuña left the game after being hit by New York Mets pitcher, Tylor Megill in the first inning of Monday’s game.
Naturally, the good news on the injury also drew a big reaction.
One of baseball’s best players over the last several seasons, Acuña had a strong first month of the year. The three-time All-Star is hitting .363/.450/.584 with five home runs. He’s also taken of MLB’s new ruled promoting more stolen bases, with 13 on the young season.
The Braves will finish their road trip with a three-game series against the Miami Marlins, starting on Tuesday. Atlanta will then return home and open a three-game series with the Baltimore Orioles on Friday.
