We may not see a better catch in the 2022 baseball season than Billy Hamilton made in the Seattle Mariners’ spring-training game against the Colorado Rockies on Friday night.
Elías Díaz cranked what looked like it would be a two-run homer, but Hamilton scaled the wall to make an amazing catch.
Yes, it’s spring training, but that’s an absolutely incredible play in any setting.
Hamilton, 31, doesn’t have quite the same wheels and athleticism that he used to, but he can still go get it in center field- even if that means climbing walls, apparently. He signed a minor-league deal with the Mariners in March, and Friday night’s play shows the value he can bring to a big-league roster.
