Highly touted high-school quarterback Arch Manning has already revealed that he will be playing for the Texas Longhorns next season, but Friday officially marked the end of his high school football career in a blowout loss for Isidore Newman.
Manning and his school, Isidore Newman took on University High in the Louisiana Division III quarterfinals, and Manning and company were entirely outmatched.
It was a rough day for Manning, throwing two interceptions along with a fumble in the game, with two of his turnovers going the other way for University High touchdowns.
The lone bright spot in the game for Manning came after an Isidore Newman interception, setting up a three-yard touchdown run.
The game was largely non-competitive for the most part, and Manning was ultimately pulled from the game in the fourth quarter.
His final stat line for the game was undoubtedly brutal. Manning compled only 8 of 21 passing attempts for 96 yards along with his three turnovers in a 49-13 defeat.
It is a disappointing end to what has been a pretty terrific career at the school for Manning.
Earlier this season, he broke Isidore Newman’s record for total touchdowns in a career, which was previously described as an “unbreakable record by The Athletic’s Grace Raynor.
It is obviously not how Arch Manning likely wanted to end his high school career, but there are surely greener pastures awaiting for his collegiate career at Texas.
