Golf superstar Tiger Woods got some pretty terrible news this weekend as The Golf League project he’s invested in alongside fellow superstar Rory McIlroy could be delayed after an overnight power outage caused damage at the venue.
As the golf account Flushing It shared in a post on X, the roof of The Golf League’s SoFi center collapsed overnight, likely causing a delay to the start of the league which was expected to begin on Jan. 9.
“The roof of the TGL’s SoFi Center has collapsed overnight leading to significant disruption to the construction of the arena. A source says no-one was hurt, but the start of the TGL is likely to be delayed,” Flushing It shared in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
The Golf League, led up by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, is a new venture that pits 24 PGA Tour players against each other in the indoor arena in match play using a simulator screen and an adjustable putting surface. It was set to begin on Jan. 9, but this might delay things a little bit.
All in all, it’s pretty horrible news for Woods that his much anticipated venture could be delayed, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media.
It’s certainly not what Woods had in mind for the new project ahead of its grand opening. We’ll have to see how it alters the timeline.
