Tiger Woods was seen limping on the greens on Saturday during The Masters. He announced in the early morning hours of Sunday he had withdrawn from the tournament due to his aggravating plantar fasciitis.
This isn’t the first time Woods had withdrawn from an event. So it brought up what had occurred in 2022 during the PGA Championship.
He told reporters he was sore, and when one, in particular, said, “On a scale of 1 to 10,” Woods replied, “All that.”
Needless to say, he was in pain.
Jason Day, who also is competing in the Masters, told Golf.com during his third and fourth rounds, that the injury last year was bigger than was publicized.
“I was talking to [Woods] at the end of last year,” Day said, “and then he was saying the reason why he pulled out of the PGA was a screw went through the skin on Saturday or whatever it was. I don’t know how bad it is this time.”
If Woods was doing his best to get through the pain OF A SCREW GOING THROUGH HIS SKIN, who knows how bad it is this time around.
“He looked like he was laboring pretty hard yesterday,” Day added.
“It was obviously difficult to watch because he had to come back out and then play through all that yesterday morning, and then he had to take a little bit of a break and come back out and play again.”
The overall events of the Masters this year had every storyline you could imagine. The weather canceled play and a tree had fallen near a sea of patrons. Don’t worry, nobody was hurt, but yep — a 100-foot Georgia pine tree fell over on Friday.
Woods was dealing with the elements, and it was apparent he was in pain.
“It wasn’t the perfect conditions for him to be able to at least get through the round,” Day said. It’s disappointing, but that’s just kind of, I think, where we’re at with how his body is right now. … You can all see how he’s feeling on TV. I don’t know what he’s feeling internally, how bad it is.”
