The one thing that has seemed to come out of the LIV Golf and PGA Tour merger is that it is bringing golfers together again.
When several PGA golfers jumped to the LIV Golf, several friendships were fractured including Sergio Garcia and Rory McIlroy’s friendship.
The rift began back in February when Garcia said that McIlroy “lack maturity” when it came to the whole situation.
But apparently, the pair have healed their differences after McIlroy ran into Garcia’s wife Angela at the US Open back in June.
“Angela and Rory said “Hi” to each other at the US Open. And there was a nice text from Rory to her. That kind of gave me the go-ahead to reach out to him,” he said.
During a LIV event this week, Garcia said that “I love my friends and I don’t want to lose many.”
Garcia explained further his feelings on repairing his friendship with McIlroy.
“It was very important to me and, I think, for Rory too. It felt like there was this little hole left and we were both a bit sorry for everything that happened,” he said. “I’m very happy with where we’re headed now and the relationships we are getting back. I just wish it hadn’t taken so long to get here.”
