While it went off the air in 1998, Seinfeld still resonates with people. That includes the United States Golf Association. Or, at the very least, it includes the person who came up with the pairings for the upcoming U.S. Amateur.
On Monday and Tuesday, the U.S. Amateur will be a strokeplay event, with the top 64 golfers advancing to the matchplay rounds. One such group got the attention of Seinfeld fans.
At 7:20 a.m. on Monday and 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Mark Costanza will tee off along with his playing partners: Hazen Newman and Campbell Kramer.
The @USGA has created the greatest pairing for next week's US Amateur. Our favorite golfer @campbellkremer reuniting with some old friends Newman & Constanza. I hope Campbell has "Stan the Caddie" on his bag. "You're close, you're on the green, you just have to go for the cup" pic.twitter.com/yEfgitCI0R

Either the person who does the groupings is a big Seinfeld fan or this is a big coincidence, assuming of course that you subscribe to the theory there are degrees of coincidence.
Naturally, Seinfeld fans were giddy about this trio.

Whoever was in charge of the pairings deserves a raise.

The obvious hope here is that all three advance into the strokeplay portion and make the semifinals, along with either Jerry Richardson or Jerry Gunthorpe. That would be gold.
But the U.S. Amateur is one of the toughest tournaments in the world. It’s also vast, with 312 players starting the tournament. Even making it into the top 64 will be a challenge. Making it all the way to the semifinals would be nothing short of an early Festivus miracle.
We have to brace ourselves for the possibility that these three will only be paired together on Monday and Tuesday — not that there’s anything wrong with that.
