Rory McIlroy didn’t hold back when he discussed Phil Mickelson on a new Netflix documentary series.
The series Full Swing, which hit Netflix on Wednesday morning, has the golf world buzzing. One major moment from the documentary series involved McIlroy revealing his feelings about Mickelson. Phil recently left the PGA Tour for LIV Golf, a move that has gotten him skewered often by critics.
“Rory McIlroy trashes Phil Mickelson in ‘Full Swing’ docuseries: ‘F–k you Phil,'” tweeted the New York Post on Wednesday.
The New York Post wrote about McIlroy’s choice of words for Mickelson. Let’s just say, they weren’t very nice.
Later in the finale of the Netflix series, McIlory takes a jab at LIV’s most notable signing, six-time major champ and World Golf Hall of Famer Phil Mickelson.
While undergoing treatment in the physio room, McIlroy was talking about Bills QB Josh Allen and his being a fan of the PGA Tour before adding that Allen is a Mickelson fan, “so I don’t know.” Someone can be heard responding, “Sounds like the guy is losing credibility!”
With everyone laughing, McIlroy let loose, “F–k you, Phil,” before adding that he hoped that made the cut.
It seems extremely fair to suggest that the bad blood between PGA Tour golfers and LIV golfers isn’t going away anytime soon. The animosity has spilled out onto the golf course as recently as last month. This also isn’t the first time that McIlroy has felt outspoken about anything LIV Golf-related. He has been one of the golf league’s most visible opponents, criticizing them often. The iconic Tiger Woods has also criticized the golf league.
Elsewhere, it’s been legal battles and a lot of trash-talk. A LOT of trash-talking. And McIlroy and Mickelson are at the forefront now.
