Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods have been together in their outspokenness against LIV Golf. It’s been reported that both took huge pay raises from the PGA Tour to remain loyal to the tour.
But according to reports, lately, the pair haven’t seen eye to eye on certain issues concerning the tour. While McIlroy has been more supportive of the PGA Tour and LIV Golf’s merger, Woods apparently still isn’t quite on board yet with the idea, which is leading them to have a strained relationship, something McIlroy denied earlier this week when asked about his current relationship with Woods.
“I think friends can have disagreements and not see things, I guess, eye-to-eye and have disagreements,” McIlroy said according to Golf Digest. “I would say we had a really good talk last Friday for 45 minutes about a lot of different things.
“No, there is no strain there. I think we might see the future of golf a little bit differently but I don’t think that should place any strain on our relationship or friendship.”
There were reports that came out this week that McIlroy wanted to rejoin the PGA Tour Board and wasn’t rejected and some feel one of those who didn’t want him back on the board, may have been Woods. So far, Tiger has not said a word about this, and don’t expect him to, he rarely speaks out on what’s happening within the PGA.
