The 2023 Ryder Cup takes place in five months in Italy and the big question remains whether or not Team USA captain Zach Johnson will select any LIV Golf players among his captain’s picks.
It’s entirely possible that he could do that, given that the PGA of America recently said LIV players are technically eligible for consideration on the 12-man squad for Rome because they retain their PGA of America status until July 2024.
However, given the animosity between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf players, it’s been pretty unclear if those who spurned the PGA will be welcomed into the fold.
For their part, LIV stars Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson seem to remain hopeful that they’ll get the chance.
Johnson was a bit more exacting about his desire to play in the Ryder Cup.
The 2023 Ryder Cup takes place Sept. 29-Oct. 1 at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club near Rome.
