Nepotism is becoming an increasingly large problem in the United States. Typically, it is thought of in terms of corporate America, but lately, it has even crept its way into professional sports.
Last year, the Los Angeles Lakers, a team with legitimate championship aspirations, sacrificed one of its roster spots for Bronny James, the son of star forward LeBron James, despite Bronny not showing in high school or college that he had what it took to be an NBA talent.
Now, we’re getting a similar situation in golf. Kai Trump, the granddaughter of United States President Donald Trump, recently competed in her first LPGA event, despite never really showcasing best-in-the-world talent.
As expected, she clearly didn’t have what it took to win and finished horribly.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Good for her. Leave her alone. Hopefully she builds momentum and wins a college event soon,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Which is last place…..again, taking the place of someone who deserves to be there just because of her criminal name,” another person added.
“She did her job here as a sponsor’s exemption. LPGA take the win, wish her well and move on!” someone else wrote.
It’ll be interesting to see when Kai decides to call it quits and is handed a job in politics by her grandfather.
