Jon Rahm pieced together an incredible and absurd day at The Masters.

The third-ranked golfer in the world entering the first major of the calendar year erupted on a hot start at Augusta National.

“Rham strokes gained tee-to-green: 6.89. Next best is 4.10. That is an absolutely absurd round of golf,” the No Laying Up podcast tweeted.

Furthermore, he broke a Masters record according to ESPN Stats & Info. The database tweeted, “Jon Rahm’s opening round at #themasters started with a 4-putt double-bogey. It ended with a 7-under 65. That’s the lowest round in Masters history which began with a double-bogey or worse.”

Done with Day 1, Rahm is tied for the lead at The Masters with Norwegian golfer Viktor Hovland. Hovland is the ninth-ranked golfer in the world.

The golf world reacted to the absurd day Jon Rahm had.

“Jon Rahm after the first hole today,” Callaway Golf tweeted, implying he was absolutely locked in.

Is it crazy to think this guy could win the grand slam?” Tyler Lauletta asked.

Eddie Pepperell tweeted, “With forecast over weekend (especially Saturday), how many does he win by?”

No Laying Up soon corrected themselves, saying Rahm gained a whopping 8.12 strokes tee-to-green on Thursday.

“Decent,” claimed one fan.

Needless to say, the golf world will have its eyes on Jon Rahm as he goes about the weekend. His highest finish at The Masters was a 4th-place showing in 2018.
