The PGA Tour announced on Wednesday that they would be changing a number of things moving forward, including “elevated” tour events, and a revised Player Impact Program (PIP), which will expand pay for top golfers as they continue to attempt to fend off players leaving for big purses with LIV Golf.
It appears that LIV Golf commissioner Greg Norman has taken notice of this, posting a meme about the changes on Instagram seeming to hint at PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan copying LIV Golf’s format for paying golfers.
“Jay: Hey, can I copy your homework?”
“Greg: “Sure, just make it look different so it doesn’t look to obvious.”
The PGA Tour have been on the onslaught of LIV Golf as of late, with Monahan saying that those who have left for LIV Golf will be unwelcome to return to the PGA Tour in the future.
On top of these changes regarding pay for top golfers, the PGA Tour announced a new “tech-infused” league led by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s new company that could certainly attract attention around the golf world.
There is clearly no love lost between Monahan and Norman as both LIV Golf and the PGA Tour continue their battle to reign supreme in the golf world.
Unfortunately for Norman and LIV Golf, they still remain without a major TV right deal unlike the PGA Tour, which will seemingly keep them at a significant disadvantage for the foreseeable future.
