The opening round of the Masters took place on Thursday, with many of the sports top names taking part in the highly anticipated event. But ultimately, one LIV Golf star who has typically struggled at the course was the player who shined above the rest.
LIV star Bryson DeChambeau has faced his fair share of issues at Augusta National as of late. Coming into the event, each of his last two Masters tournaments had resulted in missed cuts.
It was a different story entirely for DeChambeau, who looked like a completely different player entirely from years past. He finished with eight birdies on the day with only one bogey to finish with a 65 on the day, a seven-under-par round to lead the field.
Previously, DeChambeau made the claim that he would “break” Augusta National, typically one of the most difficult golf courses in the world. That hasn’t exactly happened in years past. But he finally lived up to that promise on Thursday, which garnered a ton of reactions from many golf fans on social media.

There is still plenty of golf left for DeChambeau in order for him to get his first green jacket. And he does have one of the best golfers in the world, Scottie Scheffler following right behind him with a six-under-par round on Thursday.
However, you couldn’t ask for a better start if you are DeChambeau. And it will sure be interesting to see if he can continue this impressive pace throughout the tournament.
