Brooks Koepka’s golf game has never been better, coming off his recent win in the PGA Championship, his fifth major title.
But his role as captain of LIV Golf’s Smash GC isn’t going quite so well this week. According to Barstool Sports’ Dan Rapaport, Matt Wolff has left Smash GC and is looking for a new team.
It appears a personality conflict ruined the relationship between Koepka and Wolff, as the report noted, “Vibes were off and they didn’t mesh.”
The popular golf Twitter account No Laying Up reported Tuesday that Wolff’s bio and social media handles had disappeared from the team’s bio page.
The 24-year-old Wolff joined Smash GC to start this season, replacing Peter Uihlein. He’s best remembered for collecting the first hole-in-one in LIV competition last season. Aside from that, he’s run hot and cold in competition. He has five top-10 finishes since joining LIV Golf last season, including a runner-up finish at the 2022 Bedminster event. However, he’s also had five finishes outside the top 30.
Wolff, an NCAA All-American at Oklahoma State University, won the 2019 NCAA Division I individual championship. He scored one PGA Tour victory in his career before joining LIV Golf.
Koepka’s Smash GC is currently seventh in the LIV standings halfway through the 14-tournament season.
