Green Bay Packers star Aaron Rodgers has dominated at the NFL level for nearly two decades, but it was an accomplishment in the world of golf that turned heads this weekend.
Rodgers competed alongside PGA Tour pro Ben Silverman in the Pebble Beach Pro-Am in California this weekend. The duo were able to win the event with a score of 26-under, besting veteran golfer Peter Malnati and Don Colleran by one stroke.
The future Hall of Fame quarterback has competed in the Pro-Am nine times. He won his first this weekend. Rodgers discussed how it felt to come away with the victory, saying that winning this event has “always been on his bucket list”.
“It’s really significant. It’s always been on my bucket list,” said Rodgers via Packers.com. “I played in Tahoe for 18 years and never really sniffed higher than like eighth. But I felt good about the partnership this week. Ben’s such a great guy. I knew we were going to have fun.”
The win does come with a bit of an asterisk due to the event being cut short after only 54 holes due to high wind, which fellow quarterback Josh Allen gave him playful grief for after the event officially ended.
Aaron Rodgers has learned from his lengthy tenure in the NFL to take a win any way that you can get it. He relayed this sentiment in a rebuttal to Allen’s criticism.
“Josh Allen was telling me there’s going to be an asterisk by this win because there was only three rounds,” said Rodgers. “But I think that our names are going to be up there for a long time.”
