The Madden NFL Cover release was officially unveiled. News trickled out Wednesday morning that Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen would be the first player in franchise history to grace the cover of the popular video game series. And while Patrick Mahomes is the reigning MVP and led the Kansas City Chiefs to a Super Bowl LVII victory, he’s graced the cover of Madden twice in the past four years.
So Allen, who is a budding superstar in every sense of the word, seemed to be a natural choice. Perhaps you would have argued for players like Justin Jefferson, Joe Burrow or even Sauce Gardner, but few would argue with EA choosing the 27-year-old Allen to be the video game’s latest cover athlete.
Allen took to social media on Wednesday and called it a “childhood dream come true.”
With Allen officially being named to the cover, the Bills QB joins an illustrious list of players who’ve made it onto the Madden NFL cover, including Hall of Famers Barry Sanders, Marshall Faulk, Ray Lewis, and Troy Polamalu, as well as Michael Vick, Larry Fitzgerald, Shaun Alexander and Richard Sherman.
