WWE rookie Grayson Waller has a penchant for riling people up online. But on Wednesday, he certainly poked a big bear as he bantered with the legendary Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson on Twitter.
Last Friday night, Waller made his WWE in-ring debut against Hall of Famer Edge at Madison Square Garden. Waller boasted about it online and now has “Madison Square Garden Main Eventer” in his Twitter bio. Waller took the time on Sunday to make an interesting tweet.
“This (which we can believe must’ve been ‘The’) biggest debut in Madison Square Garden since that bloke who wore the cringe tassels,” Waller tweeted.
That, of course, is in reference to The Rock. Johnson debuted at MSG in November 1996 at the Survivor Series pay-per-view. It wasn’t the most sparkling debut for Johnson, as it’s best remembered for the attire that he wore, as Waller alluded to.
Then, on Wednesday, Waller returned to Twitter and to the topic. He posted a video in which he could be seen laughing at Rock’s attire, of which he seemed to get his hands on. And that his debut was better!
But Waller soon found out that The Rock was ready to fire back. Johnson took to Twitter with a response.
“Man you’re right!! That outfit was so cringe. Here’s what’s more cringe – the fact you look and sound like you dropped out of some jabroni’s balloon knot. Nice haircut, you Outlaw **** ***. P.S., my cringe outfit debut was Triple H’s idea.”
The froggy Waller was ready with a tweet of his own.
“Ouch! Those classic 1999 schoolyard insults really still hit. You still have an open invitation to be a guest on The Grayson Waller Effect though! Sounds like you’re in desperate need of the Grayson Waller rub,” he tweeted.
Rock’s Black Adam movie did not do well at the box office, and the XFL, of which Johnson is the visible leader, reported losses after its return following roughly two years of dormancy. A return to WWE hasn’t happened yet, but if it does, they might come back around to this given that Waller has shared a ring already with legends Edge and John Cena.
