The Penn State Nittany Lions have to be the most dissapointing team in college football by a large margin this season. The Nittany Lions entered the season as the number two-ranked team in the AP poll with legitimate Big Ten and national championship aspirations.

Instead, the Nittany Lions have found themselves sitting at 4-6 heading into this weekend’s game against the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The season has gone so poorly that Penn State fired head coach James Franklin in the middle of the season.

Franklin has since signed on to become the head coach for the Virginia Tech Hokies. However, rather than focusing on his new school and making sure he doesn’t repeat the same mistakes, Franklin took a low blow at the Nittany Lions.

“Having an airport right on campus is going to be important,” he said, referencing the infamous difficulties surrounding flying to and from Penn State’s campus.

Fans reacted to the shot on social media.

“They don’t though and the runway is shorter than State College Regional. What is he talking about?” one fan on Twitter wanted to know.

“Yeah his personal university plane will fly in/out of campus but recruits coming in for visits will fly into Roanoke… This take by Coach Franklin is all about HIM…. Good luck,” someone else added.

“Ah, so THAT’S why PSU didn’t beat too ranked teams for all of those years. Now he is going to go undefeated for the next 5 years,” one fan added sarcastically.

It’ll be interesting to see how Franklin does after the change of scenery.
