With the departures of starting offensive linemen Dawand Jones, Paris Johnson Jr. and Luke Wypler – all of whom are leaving school early to enter the NFL Draft – the Ohio State Buckeyes are entering the 2023 season with a totally revamped offensive line. But it looks like that unit is getting a pretty big boost from the transfer portal.
On Wednesday afternoon, former Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks starting offensive tackle Victor Cutler announced that he would be transferring to Ohio State.
“Dream come true,” Cutler announced on Twitter.
Cutler made 21 career starts for the Warhawks at left tackle, right tackle and center and has two years of eligibility remaining.
It’s a massive pickup at a position of need for the Buckeyes, and the college football world had plenty to say about it on Twitter.
“A little short to play tackle like he did at UL Monroe, but the Buckeyes finally get some offensive line help from the portal. Cutler gives them some much-needed depth and could challenge to start at guard next season,” Scarlet and Game said in a tweet.
“From Louisiana-Monroe through the portal to @OhioStateFB, OL @CutlerVic will add immediate depth at the least,” Ohio State reporter Tim May of Lettermen Row said in a tweet.
“Solid addition to a much needed position,” Buckeye Empire said in a tweet.
“Ohio State adds a transfer offensive lineman: Victor Cutler, who was the starting left tackle at Louisiana-Monroe last season. He also has starting experience at center and right tackle,” Ohio State reporter Dan Hope of Eleven Warriors said on Twitter.
Cutler figures to make an instant impact for the Buckeyes.
