The UTEP Miners beat the Charlotte 49ers 41-35 in college football action on Saturday night, and the game’s most important, craziest play isn’t hard to identify.
With UTEP leading 34-21 early in the fourth quarter, Charlotte’s ChaVon McEachern fumbled at the goal line. Not only did Charlotte miss out on a touchdown; UTEP defensive end Jadrian Taylor scooped the ball up and took it 100 yards the other way for a Miners touchdown.

So, that was amazing and the play of the game. But the victory also featured an incredible factoid for UTEP.
With the win, UTEP improves to 1-26-1 in the Eastern Time Zone. Yes, this is the first win for UTEP in the Eastern Time Zone in program history, in 28 attempts.
That’s hard to believe.
The UTEP victory follows up an impressive 17-point win over Boise State. The Miners improve to 3-3 on the season and will face Louisiana Tech on the road next Saturday.
