Jackson State has risen to prominence under NFL legend Deion Sanders as head coach, but a prominent former college coach seems to believe that Sanders will soon be on a much bigger stage in college football.
Former Ohio State coach Urban Meyer discussed Sanders’ coaching abilities on Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff, and he revealed that he expects Sanders to be a Power five coach next season.
” I am really impressed with the discipline of his team,” said Meyer. “I promise you at the end of the year that man is going to have a decision to make. Deion Sanders should and will be a Power Five coach next season.”
It has long been assumed that Sanders would be a head coach at a prominent football program, and he has shown during his tenure at Jackson State that he can lead a team to success.
Jackson State is coming off an 11-2 season under Sanders last year, and they have gotten off to a dominant start to this season with a 6-0 record to this point.
There have already been rumors circulating about Sanders coaching at schools such as Nebraska or Arizona State, which have both fired their coaches early on in the year. These rumors will only grow as we head closer to the end of the college football season, and it will certainly be something worth monitoring.
It is worth noting that Sanders is coaching his son at Jackson State, who is a sophomore starting at quarterback. That may dissuade him from leaving Jackson State, but it could also be a scenario where Shedeur Sanders ends up transferring to wherever Deion Sanders could be heading.
