The Texas Tech Red Raiders pulled off a major upset over the weekend when they downed the in-state rival Texas Longhorns in overtime on Saturday afternoon. The rowdy fans in attendance celebrated the big-time win by rushing onto the field, which is actually a violation of Big 12 conference rules.
As a result of the field storming on Saturday afternoon, Texas Tech was fined a whopping $50,000 from the Big 12 conference. However, according to Front Office Sports, the school won’t be paying a cent of it as a local bank has agreed to cover the entire fine.

With the team no longer having to pay the bill for the fans rushing the field, now Texas Tech can simply enjoy the momentous victory.
Heading into Saturday’s contest, Texas Tech hadn’t defeated Texas in a home game since 2008, when they knocked off the top-ranked Longhorns thanks to a last-second touchdown from star Red Raiders wide receiver Michael Crabtree.
