The Texas Longhorns did not have the sort of season they were hoping to have in the first full season as a starter for quarterback Arch Manning, the nephew of legendary NFL quarterbacks Peyton and Eli Manning.
Arch struggled in the early part of the season, and although Manning’s play improved over the course of the season, the Longhorns still lost three games and failed to qualify for the College Football Playoff.
To make matters worse for Texas, it also lost money in Arch’s first season as a starter, per Yahoo Sports.
“Texas athletics posted a loss in 2025, which was expected, as the program has not yet received a full share of SEC revenue, per (Austin Statesmen),” Yahoo reported on Thursday night.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“How in the hell is this even possible for a university of that size. Just seems like NIL model is not feasible unless something changes if this is happening to universities like TX,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“This gets swept under the rug when you’re winning. Miss the playoffs again and people aren’t so understanding,” someone else added.
“Not surprised, there’s no College Football Program that’s profitable if you take out the BOOSTER DOLLARS,” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Texas can turn a profit next season.
