Boston College’s Khari Johnson got ejected Thursday night for targeting on a brutal play that provided a textbook example of the infraction.
In the second quarter of the Eagles’ game against the Pitt Panthers, tight end Malcolm Epps went up to grab a deep pass. KP Price had him in tight coverage.
Johnson ran over to assist, planted his feet, and launched himself helmet first at Epps’ helmet.
The pass dropped incomplete. In the easiest penalty call of the college football season, officials ejected Johnson.
Fans all agreed that targeting penalties don’t get any more blatant.
“Arguably the dumbest hit you’ll see at any level all year from Khari Johnson,” wrote Boston area sportswriter Kevin J. Stone. “Looked like he was going for a header in soccer.”
I’m sorry, but this makes me laugh. It’s so extreme! It’s absolutely textbook every single way. “Targeting“ is an understatement.https://t.co/rrLB7sAKTc

Khari Johnson at Boston college should NEVER be allowed to play another snap of football in his life, most egregious targeting I’ve ever seen
