The South Carolina Gamecocks were able to get a huge 31-30 win over in-state rival Clemson in the annual Palmetto Bowl on Saturday. Much of that was due to an excellent performance from Gamecocks quarterback Spencer Rattler.
Despite coming into the game as 14-point underdogs, South Carolina was able to defy the odds and secure a huge victory on the road.
Rattler finished the game with 360 passing yards along with three total touchdowns. And he had a number of highlight-reel plays in the game.

Perhaps his biggest play of the game came late in the fourth quarter, where the Gamecocks clinched the victory with a huge first-down conversion to ice the game.
Following the massive win, Rattler’s celebration method in the locker room certainly caught the attention of the college football world.
South Carolina’s social media team shared a video of Rattler enjoying a cigar sitting at his locker.
This resembles former LSU quarterback Joe Burrow, who has a famous picture of him enjoying a cigar after winning the National Championship in 2019 while at the program.
Regardless, many seem to believe that this celebration from Rattler is well deserved after his excellent performance.
Many wrote Rattler off after he transferred from Oklahoma this past offseason. But he has certainly been impressive down the stretch of the season.
This performance comes just one week after Rattler and the Gamecocks dominated No. 5 ranked Tennessee, throwing for 438 yards and six touchdowns in a blowout win.
South Carolina’s win on Saturday was also vastly important for their football program. This marks their first win in the Palmetto Bowl since 2013, ending Clemson’s seven-game winning streak in the rivalry.
