Before taking a snap for his new program, a Georgia transfer has already found himself in a heap of legal trouble.
Rara Thomas, who transferred from Mississippi State to Georgia in December, was arrested early Monday morning by University police on a felony charge of false imprisonment and a misdemeanor of family violence, according to On3 Sports. He was booked at 4:04 a.m. While additional details have yet to be made available, Thomas is being held at the Athens-Clarke County Jail without bond, reports ESPN senior writer Mark Schlabach.
In 2022, Thomas led all Mississippi State receivers with 44 recpetions for 626 yards and seven touchdowns.
Thomas figured to be a key addition from the transfer portal, for a Bulldogs team that looks to replace the production of Adonai Mitchell, who recently transferred to the University of Texas, following Georgia’s National Championship victory. Georgia also recently lost receiver Dominic Blaylock to the transfer portal, while receiver Kearis Johnson has elected to enter the 2023 NFL Draft.
In addition to Thomas, Georgia also added University of Missouri transfer wideout Dominic Lovett. The All-SEC selection caught 56 passes for 846 yards with three receiving touchdowns in 2022.
