After serving a school-imposed three-game suspension, Jim Harbaugh returned to the sidelines as the Michigan Wolverines opened up Big Ten play this past Saturday against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.

Harbaugh missed the Wolverines’ home games against East Carolina, UNLV, and Bowling Green. But, he was back on the sidelines for the first time this season for the 31-7 win over Rutgers.

And even though Harbaugh’s Wolverines are now 4-0, Paul Finebaum wants the head coach to lighten up.

“I was watching SportsCenter earlier and he came on and my wife said ‘Why is that guy so mad,’” Finebaum said on The Matt Barrie Show. “For a guy that’s making $9 million a year and has one of the best jobs in college football, I don’t understand the angry face all the time. I mean, it’s just Jim. I mean, he’s not being held hostage or something. You don’t have to do this job if you don’t like it.

“So I recommend to Jim to lighten up. That program made it a couple of weeks without him. Not much different with him and talk about when are they ever going to play a good team? I’m waiting for that one too. There’s a few on the schedule, but it doesn’t seem like we’ve seen Michigan tested at all.”

Finebaum seemed to have a hard time understanding why Harbaugh always seems to have an angry face on. He and Barrie then proceeded to rail against Michigan’s schedule and how they haven’t been tested with or without Harbaugh manning the sidelines. So perhaps Finebaum wants Harbaugh to lighten up because his team has taken care of business like they should thus far? Really it’s anyone’s guess, but maybe he’s just tired of seeing Harbaugh’s habitual scowl on his television.

It will be interesting to see if Harbaugh decides to respond to these comments in the future.
