The Ohio State Buckeyes may not have had the year that fans would have hoped for in 2023. But it sure looks like they are in great shape to reload for next season.
The program has gotten a ton of good news lately, with star wide receiver Emeka Egbuka and star defensive lineman J.T. Tuimoloau announcing that they will be returning to the program in 2024.
They also were able to bring in some high-profile players in the transfer portal including former Kansas State quarterback Will Howard and former Ole Miss running back Quinshon Judkins to help replace the large number of players who entered the portal.
Those two players alone should make Ohio State’s offense a pretty formidable unit. But they may have the chance to truly be special as an offense now that another of their best players announced his return as well on Friday.
TreVeyon Henderson, a player who has long been projected to potentially declare for the 2024 NFL Draft, announced on social media that he will be returning to Ohio State for his senior season.
“I am nothing without my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,” wrote Henderson on Twitter/X. “I used to be lost until Jesus came into my life and saved me. He always comes to my rescue just like he did in this decision. If it wasn’t for God, I wouldn’t be making this decision to come back for my senior year. But God led me back for a great purpose, to do something much bigger than me. I trust what God is doing in my life. I trust where he is leading me! This is what God is calling me to do, and wherever the Lord leads me, by FAITH I will follow.”
Considering Henderson profiled as one of the better running backs in all of college football, plenty of fans were surprised by the decision.
The Buckeyes’ success in 2024 obviously hinges largely on the success of Will Howard or whoever else ends up as the team starting quarterback.
However, Henderson’s return means that Ohio State will have two of the top running backs in all of college football alongside Quinshon Judkins, a dynamic duo that any team in the country will likely struggle to contain.
