Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Jeremiah Smith’s helmet sits on the sideline as the team warms up prior to the NCAA football game against the Illinois Fighting Illini at Gies Memorial Stadium in Champaign on Oct. 11, 2025.

The Ohio State Buckeyes looked like the best team in college football for most of the season, cruising through their Big Ten schedule, with head coach Ryan Day finally getting over the hump and beating the Michigan Wolverines for the first time since 2019.

Unfortunately for the Buckeyes, Day and quarterback Julian Sayin struggled in the Buckeyes two biggest games of the season, the Big Ten Championship against the Indiana Hoosiers and in the College Football Playoff’s Cotton Bowl against the Miami Hurricanes, ending OSU’s season.

After the loss, the Buckeyes lost one of their quarterbacks, with Lincoln Kienholz entering the transfer portal. Now, according to On3, the Bucks have nabbed a replacement.

“BREAKING: Maryland transfer QB Justyn Martin has committed to Ohio State,” the outlet reported.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“If Ohio somehow turns this guy into a star I don’t think I can forgive UCLA football,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“To be the backup again , could’ve went down the road to bowling green and helped out Eddie George,” someone else added.

“If Sayin has a great season this year, then expect him to enter the draft. That would put him in direct competition with TSC. Which I believe TSC would win QB1,” another fan added.

It’ll be interesting to see if Martin can supplant Sayin as the starter next season.
