The 2025 campaign started off picture-perfect for the Ohio State Buckeyes, as they knocked off the AP preseason number-one-ranked team in the Texas Longhorns. The Buckeyes cruised through the rest of their schedule, including their arch rivals, the Michigan Wolverines, whom they hadn’t beaten since 2016.

Unfortunately, Ohio State came to a screeching halt when the games mattered most, with quarterback Julian Sayin turning in his two worst performances of the season against in the Big Ten Championship and College Football Playoff, and the Buckeyes capped the campaign off with back-to-back losses.

After the losses, Ohio State lost quarterback Lincoln Kienholz to the transfer portal. Now, On3’s Greg Biggins is reporting that Ohio State is landing a replacement for Kienholz in the portal that is sure to give Sayin the competition required for the program to reach its heights.

BREAKING: Maryland transfer QB Justyn Martin has committed to Ohio State, (Greg Biggins) reports,” the outlet reported.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“This dude is 6’4 and can extend plays with his legs. Welcome back Will Howard,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“Bro couldn’t touch the field at Maryland behind a true freshman, what makes him think he will be anything other than QB3 at OSU?” another fan added.

“The butterfly effect of this guy de-committing from Cal 5 years ago really led to Fernando Mendoza becoming the Heisman and #1 pick,” one fan added.

It’ll be interesting to see if Martin can claim the starting spot from the incumbent.
