The Notre Dame Fighting Irish made a huge splash in the transfer market on Thursday.
The Irish hauled in All-ACC quarterback Sam Hartman from Wake Forest from the transfer portal. Hartman visited the Notre Dame campus on Wednesday and quickly decided South Bend would be his home.
Hartman made the reveal on his Twitter account. He simply tweeted, “Onward. #GoIrish” and it got the message right across.
Over the last two seasons, Hartman has been one of the best quarterbacks in the nation. He’s thrown for 7,929 yards over the last two seasons with 77 touchdowns and 26 interceptions. Furthermore, he’s completed 60.7 percent of his passes off 936 attempts. He was named an All-ACC selection the last two seasons, going to the second team in 2021 and the third team in 2022.
Notre Dame was a QB-needy team and they hauled a great one into South Bend. Since the Irish play several ACC opponents each year, there’s at least some familiarity for Hartman against those eventual opponents. Currently, Notre Dame is scheduled to play the ACC’s Clemson Tigers, Duke Blue Devils, Louisville Cardinals, N.C. State Wolfpack, Pitt Panthers, and, fittingly, Wake Forest.
Additionally, they of course will play Ohio State and USC, teams that the Irish will surely need great QB play for.
With another Top 10 recruiting class coming in, and talent aboard still, expect Notre Dame to be a major player next season with Hartman now aboard.
