There are few people better equipped to talk to young athletes about the dangers and concerns with sports gambling than Cincinnati Reds legend Pete Rose. After all, it got him banned from the Hall of Fame. That’s why Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban wanted Rose to speak to his team – he just had to get him to Tuscaloosa first.
According to Fiterman Sports, the agency that represents Pete Rose, Nick Saban sent his personal jet to pick up Rose in Houston and fly him to Tuscaloosa to speak with the team.
“Thank you Coach Nick Saban for sending your personal Alabama jet to Houston and inviting Fiterman Sports and my Exclusive Client [Pete Rose] to the University of Alabama,” Fiterman Sports said in a tweet.
And from the looks of it, Rose made it to Tuscaloosa and had a successful meeting with the team.
“Thank you, Pete Rose for stopping by and talking with the team!” Alabama Football said in a tweet.
Saban made it clear earlier this offseason that he would like to bring in guest speakers like this throughout fall camp. It seems like Rose is his first, and it’s safe to say it was a good fit given the subject matter.
