The Michigan Wolverines have been the center of controversy lately due to their sign-stealing scandal that the NCAA is investigating. However, this is not the only scandal ongoing about the program.
As if the sign-stealing scandal wasn’t enough, details emerged about a separate investigation into former Michigan co-offensive coordinator Matt Weiss, which now includes the FBI.
This scandal has been ongoing within the school police department, but the FBI has now gotten involved in the incident.
According to Tony Garcia of the Detroit Free Press, The University of Michigan police department has been working with the FBI for months to investigate former Michigan football co-offensive coordinator Matt Weiss’ computer case.
This comes after Weiss was fired back in January when reports emerged that he was allegedly involved in computer access crimes done on school grounds on his personal computer.
It’s unclear at this point if the investigation goes further than just Weiss and involves other members of the Michigan coaching staff. But regardless, it isn’t a good look, and fans pointed that out on social media shortly after this new update emerged.
You know what they say. When it rains it pours, and it certainly seems to be a torrential downpour ongoing within Michigan’s football program over the last 12 months.
The only saving grace for the Michigan football program is that their on-field performance has been great thus far this year, currently ranked No. 2 in the country with an 8-0 record.
With that being said, these scandals are piling up against them. And there has to be a serious question to be asked shortly. Just how many investigations can this coaching staff, led by Jim Harbaugh, take before there is a complete overhaul?
