Lee Corso has been a fixture on ESPN’s College GameDay since the show’s start in 1987.
There’s been countless mascot-head-wearing episodes and controversial quick-take opinions in the years since, but as Corso took the GameDay set for another season Saturday, many fans had the same thought.
Is it time for ESPN to gracefully say good-bye to the longtime analyst?
Corso is 88 years old, and many critics contend he looks every bit that age.
Corso has had some well-publicized health battles. He suffered a stroke in 2009 that cost him some cognitive ability. Last season, Corso missed a month on College GameDay due to undisclosed health issues.
Yet Corso remains beloved by many fans. Even some of those fans, however, are starting to question when enough is enough.
Corso went viral on Twitter Saturday, and unfortunately it’s not because he donned a North Carolina Tar Heels mascot head on College GameDay. As Twitter user Nick Perkins noted, “I think we are all happy that he is physically able to be there, and honestly, he doesn’t look horrible But seeing Lee Corso like this is just depressing … getting old sucks.”

There needs to be a clause or something in these employment contracts to prevent this stuff. Age related decline shouldn’t be ignored and they should at least try protection the reputation of public figures…
