On this weekend’s edition of College GameDay, Lee Corso was moved to tears after a wonderful tribute to him and his headgear picks aired live on ESPN this morning. Live from Boulder, Colorado for the Colorado-Colorado State game on Saturday, the crowd led a “Corso” chant in unison after the tribute aired.
Saturday marked Coro’s 400th College GameDay headgear pick and he was celebrated as such. At 88 years old, Corso is still going strong. You can tell how much it means to him to still be on set.

In 2016, around the 20th anniversary of his first donning a mascot head, Corso spoke to Awful Announcing about how much joy he was still getting from being on GameDay:
“Are you kidding me? You don’t last this long in television! I’ve been there about 27 years and it’s amazing. But again, you’ve got to remember, at the time I was in the most need, ESPN was at its best. Because the stroke affected my speech and I could hardly talk, and I eventually got back to talking and they stuck with me.”
Corso thanked several people, including his colleagues for putting up with his shtick, and those who made the tribute. He also made sure to thank ESPN for sticking with him after he suffered his stroke.

This is just wonderfully done. Got a little dusty here in Colorado watching it and then seeing Coach Corso’s reaction. @CollegeGameDay at its best here. https://t.co/TqbAkXzQs6
