Lane Kiffin has done a fine job this season as the head coach of the Ole Miss Rebels, leading the team to a perfect 6-0 record so far this year along with an impressive top-10 ranking. But as Kiffin pointed out in his weekly press conference, things haven’t always been this easy for him.
On Monday, Kiffin was asked about coaches like Auburn Tigers head coach Bryan Harsin being on the hot seat so early in his career as Auburn’s head coach. Kiffin was extremely blunt in his response, revealing that he’s not exactly the guy you would want to ask about that, given his history as a head coach.
“Well I didn’t do very good, I got fired after five games so I’m probably not the one to ask how to do that,” Kiffin said during his press conference. “I mean, I was 3-2, so I’m probably not the right one to ask that.”
Kiffin, of course, is referring to the time he was fired as the head coach of the USC Trojans in his fourth season with the team after beginning the season 3-2.
While his honesty is certainly appreciated, it’s safe to say that Kiffin won’t have that same problem this season.
