After just one season with Kyle McCord as the team’s starting quarterback, it looks like the Ohio State Buckeyes and head coach Ryan Day will be going in a different direction next season.
According to a report from Eleven Warriors, Kyle McCord has entered the NCAA transfer portal and intends to leave the program. This means that Ohio State will have a new starting quarterback next season, whether it’s a quarterback currently on the roster – Devin Brown, Lincoln Keinholz, or Air Noland – or a new quarterback the Buckeyes choose to add through the transfer portal.
During his press conference on Sunday, Ryan Day did not rule out the possibility of Ohio State adding a transfer quarterback.
“I mean, right now we’re not actively out there searching for anything other than we’ll see kind of what the next month brings in all positions. So I’m not gonna sit here and get into specifics on each of those positions,” Day said. “We like the guys that we have at a bunch of positions, but we’re going to make sure that whether it’s numbers or depth, that we have the right guys in the right spots.”
It’s massive news, and the college football world had plenty to say about it on social media.
We’ll have to see who Ohio State tabs as their starting quarterback next season.
